Monster Hunter X Features New Nyanter Mode!

MONSTER HUNTER X

Nintendo 3DS™ [Action RPG] Release Date: November 28, 2015 [JPN]

Capcom released a new trailer featuring its new "Nyanter Mode" at the TGS 2015! With this new-added feature, players will be able to choose the cute Felyne to play as Palicoes. As well, players will also be able to join efforts with their Hunter friends to fullfill the quests together!

Scheduled for a Japanese release this winter for the 3DS, Monster Hunter X will bring new additions to every aspect of the series: monsters, moves, and areas. As well, each weapon will also have new super actions! Built from the same engine as Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, players can also expect to see the return of monster mounting, and vertical travesal.

Capcom has also made a focus on player accessibility, as each weapon now has 4 styles of play, so that gamers can find which fits; depending on the style, the moveset will change, in addition to exclusive moves for each class of hunter.
As well, by taking a cue from what seems to be influenced by the Monster Hunter Frontier MMORPG subseries, there will also be a combination of assets from previous titles, and include monsters and viilages of previous Monster Hunter games, like Monster Hunter 2's Pokke Village

Finally, if players have save data from the Poku Poka Airou Village DX (Release Sept. 10, 2015), then there will be a special bonus seen in the game! Keep tuned for more details!

PS VITA SLIM - PCH 2000 - TGS 2015 COLORWAY

Right before the big event, Sony Computer Entertainment announced several new colorways for their flagship handheld console, the PlayStation Vita Slim, aka the PCH-2000 at their Pre-TGS 2015 Press Conference. Already featuring the great updates to the PCH-1000, such as being 20 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter, as well as offering longer battery life, these new additions to the roster make the PS Vita a sure fire choice for gamers on the go.

Lauded as the "must have item for the younger generation" by Hiroyuki Oda, President of SCEJA, these robust colors are perfect for those who want to find an extra way to accessorize and express their gaming identity. Whether it's the bold and flashy Neon Orange, the clean and cool Glacier White, or the serene and sharp Aqua Blue color way, these new PS Vita's are a great way to enjoy Sony's growing library of portable games and remote play with the PlayStation 4!

As with each PS Vita Slim, included in the box is the Vita, a convenient Micro USB cable, AC adapter, and manual. As the PS Vita is region free, for first time supporters, selecting your native language is easy; you can choose from the get go at the start up setup once you turn the device on!

Nioh: From Vaporware To PS4 Exclusive, via Team Ninja!

We ran lots of tests and trials for Ni-Oh. After we ran through these we found a style that fits this title. At Team Ninja, we want you to experience the feel of action in our games. Ni-Oh is set with during the samurai era and we want you to feel what it's like to be a samurai.

— Team Ninja head Yosuke Hayashi, on inhereting the project (via Siliconera Interview)

NIOH

PlayStation®4 [Action Adventure, Hack and Slash] Japanese Release: TBA 2016

The Last Guardian, Shenmue III, Final Fantasy 7 Remake - if anything, the announcement of these three titles have shown that 2016 is looking to be one of the best years for gaming; with a resurgence of titles coming out from the ether and into reality, titles once thought to be vaporware are back, bringing not only the sense of nostalgic excitement we had for them during their initial announcement, but also the excitement of knowing that they are actually happening.

With such titles, as of the recent Tokyo Game Show, Koei Tecmo has just announced the revival of their 2004 project Ni-Oh, now titled Nioh, and with the help of Ninja Gaiden's Team Ninja, another title joins this exciting list of games we've always wanted to play.

Those who remember the 2005 Electronic Entertainment Expo will recall the hype behind this historical action adventure; in preparation for it's canceled PS3 2006 release, a pre-rendered CG trailer showed Ni-Oh as a game about a blond-haired samurai - the offspring of a Western Woman and Japanese Lord set during the Warring States Era of Japan - and was based on an unfinished script of renowned Japanese film auteur, Akira Kurosawa.

Original Main Visual

Over a decade later, the finalized form of Nioh is now a difficult and dark samurai action game inspired by the original with supernatural elements designed specifically to incite trial and error; based on the reveal trailer and this description, one can almost say this is Samurai Dark Souls, Akira Kurosawa style!

Of course, with the history of Team Ninja's contemporary approach on Ninja Gaiden, it would be safe to expect an exquisite combat mechanic. Details revealed so far explain a 3-stance attack system - low, neutral, and high; a high stance reserved for power attacks and low stance for defense. As well, weapons will have their own traits and can be switched in real-time and actions will be limited to a stamina meter lending to a careful tactics in battle.

Similar to Souls, like bonfires, Shrines will be placed along the journey, where 2 activities take place, the first being a level-up point, and the second is the replenishment of "guardian spirits." Guardian spirits are a resource that drop from fallen foes, and is directly related to the means to cast and perform various special attacks - using these techniques will be at a cost of these spirits, so another element of strategy comes into play.

There is also an asynchronous online component where sword markers of fallen players serve to warn other players of high difficulty areas, and insofar, Nioh will be apparently littered with these sword markers, as is the intention of Team Ninja.

If anything, knowing that all the elements are finally coming together is a welcomed addition to the gaming universe; although there is only a 2016 tba. release date, based on what's been shown so far, Nioh is a "new" IP that gamers might have forgot about, but will definitely remember as it nears release!

Dragon Quest Builders - Post TGS 2015 Details!

DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS

PlayStation®4 PlayStation®3 Playstation®Vita - Japanese Release Date: Jan, 28th 2016

After the recent Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix revealed more details about their upcoming Dragon Quest spin-off title, Dragon Quest Builders, what can best be described as an extremely polished crossover of Minecraft and Golden Age JRPG Dragon Quest.

Set in Alefgard, the original world of Dragon Quest, Builder's story is based on the results of a parallel ending from the original 8bit NES/Famicom game. Veteran players will remember that before the final battle against the Dragonlord, an optional ending was offered where both hero and villain rule half of the world (and is one of the first optional endings in video games for that matter).

In this universe, the descendant of Erdrick does just that, and is in turn eliminated, leaving the world of Alefgard now dominated by monsters. The new hero of Dragon Quest Builders is now tasked with rebuilding the land, literally from piece by piece, gathering material - rock, wood, fruit, flora, slime ooze, and more - from all over a vast open world with day and night cycles!

An interesting premise to say the least, the story of this game sets the context of why and how the minecraft mechanic will work. At the same time, there is a focus on adventuring, crafting, and combat, so unlike Minecraft, there will be an actual endgame to an extent. There will also be a huge abundance of Dragon Quest tropes, from the iconic music of Yuji Horii, legacy weapons and armor, and monsters like the fearsome Green Dragon as well as everyone's favorite - the Slime, all based on the designs of Akira Toriyama.

If Dragon Quest Heroes was a good indication of the level of quality we should expect from a DQ spin-off, then gamers can be confident in looking forward to Dragon Quest Builders, releasing in Japan late January, 2016! There's also mention of an upcoming Chinese Language version, which means a Western Localization is a strong possibility~
